Have you ever seen "Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting", a dance drama based on The Vast Land, Wang Ximeng's famous blue-green landscape painting from the Song Dynasty?
After the dance drama was shown on China Central Television's 2022 Spring Festival Gala, it quickly became an internet sensation. Now you can see several blue-green landscape paintings from Ming and Qing Dynasties in Guangzhou!
From August 23 to November 23, "Work of Nature in Blue-and-green Landscape: Research Exhibition on Colours of Landscape Painting" is underway at the Guangzhou Museum of Art.
Blue-green paintings were a very important genre in Chinese landscape painting in the Tang Dynasty, using blue and green mineral or plant dyes as primary colors. This time, over 40 landscape paintings from Ming and Qing Dynasties are on display, showcasing the history of this genre of Chinese traditional fine art.

The exhibition is divided into three sections that respectively theme the materials and technique of blue-green landscape painting, blue-green landscape paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and such paintings created by modern painters from the Lingnan area.
In addition to the landscape paintings collected by the Guangzhou Museum of Art and Guangdong Museum, a step-by-step demonstration of the blue-green landscape painting by Liu Wendong, an associate professor from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, is also presented to the public. Audiences will get a better understanding of the intricate and delicate creation process of this traditional art.

Meanwhile, there is also an experience corner providing drafts of landscape paintings, pigment and other drawing tools in the exhibition hall, where people can try coloring their own turquoise landscape pictures.
