The forerunner of Shifu Christian Church was the gospel hall built at Shifu by the British Methodist Church's first missionary priest to Guangzhou. It was rebuilt several times and was refurbished in 1934. Yiqun Elementary School was set up inside the church from 1939 to 1946. In 1960, it was identified as a house of prayer. It was closed during the Cultural Revolution. In December 24, 1983, it resumed religious activities, and on December 26, 1995, it moved to the new church site at No. 54, Fengyuan Zhengjie, Fengyuan Lu.
