Wende Lu

Wende Lu, a street engaged in the cultural crafts industries, is famous in South China. As early as the 18th century, the street was where painters in Guangzhou in western styles sold their works to overseas markets. Now, it has developed into a great market dealing with the four treasures of the study (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper), old books, antiques, pottery and scripts and paintings representative of styles of all the ages. It has also become a platform through which to promote arts in the Pearl River Delta, like Guangzhou's thread-bound Chinese books, Cantonese embroidery, Guang color porcelain (color porcelain made in Guangdong), modern painting, sculptures; Foshan pottery, cut-paper decorations, decorative lamps; Zhaoqing's Duan ink slabs and Shantou's tea.

Lingnan Arts Market

The professional arts market is located on the subway station where Zhongshan San Lu joint Dongchuan Lu Connect. On two underground floors are stores selling musical instruments and where music performances are conducted at times. Stores on the first floor deal with various types of ornaments of excellent craftsmanship as well as seals. Some discerning shoppers may have artists engraving a custom-made seal just for them. On the second floor are bookstores and cafes. On the third to the ninth floors are galleries, painting academies, net bars, dancing rooms, photographic studios, the Gallery of Guangzhou Painting Academy, as well as various crafts, porcelains and paintings.
