The German musical Elisabeth tells the dramatic life story of Sisi, Empress of Austria. Since its premiere in 1992, the musical has attracted 12 million audiences worldwide with over 9,000 performances. This wonderful German musical will make its debut in Guangzhou in the form of a staged concert, with five consecutive performances from September 26 to 30 at the Guangzhou Opera House. As this marks the German musical staged concert's first visit to Guangzhou, and it's the only stop in South China region, do not miss this opportunity.

A Tapestry of a Legendary Land (Dance Drama)

Wang Ximeng (王希孟), a genius painter from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1217) of China, created the breathtaking blue-green shan shui masterpiece "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains(《千里江山圖》)" at the age of 18 and passed away around the age of 20. The painting, which captures the splendid Chinese landscapes with concise technique and vibrant colors, is Wang's only surviving work and is considered one of the ten most famous ancient Chinese paintings.

Inspired by Wang Ximeng and his great work, the dance drama "A Tapestry of a Legendary Land" recreates the creative process and stories behind this monumental work through traditional Chinese dance and modern dance, showcasing the romance of classical Chinese aesthetics and the dedication of cultural relic conservators.

The French musical "Notre Dame de Paris" is adapted from the timeless masterpiece by Victor Hugo. Composed and lyricized by two top talents - Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante, the musical boasts 55 hit songs, making it the top French musical. In December, the legends of the cathedral era and the story between the bell ringer and the beautiful gypsy will once again echo through the halls of the Guangzhou Opera House.

Chen Sa, acclaimed by the BBC as one of the most captivating pianists, is a distinguished Chinese pianist. She stands out as the only Chinese to win top prizes in the Leeds, Chopin, and Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Known for her passionate and delicate performances, Chen is also the youngest judge at the 2021 Chopin International Competition.
On October 10, Chen Sa will hold a piano recital at the Xinghai Concert Hall. This brilliant pianist will showcase her passion for music to the audience.

Concerto Night: A Dialogue between Eastern and Western Music

"Concerto Night: A Dialogue between Eastern and Western Music" is a concert presented by the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. This special event will show musical traditions from the East and the West, featuring a program that includes the world premiere of Zhou Long's Jiu Ge, a concerto for Erhu and orchestra, and Richard Dubugnon's Eros Athanatos, a fantasy concertante for cello, piano, and orchestra. The concert will be conducted by Huang Yi and will also feature renowned musicians Gautier Capucon on cello, Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano, and Lu Yiewen on Erhu, promising an evening of cultural exchange.
