An exhibition showcasing various Cantonese Opera makeup designs kicked off at the Tianhe Art Gallery on December 17, and will run through January 7, 2024.
A total of 70 makeup designs by Wu Xing, a third-generation Cantonese Opera makeup artist, are being displayed at the exhibition, along with another 100 makeup designs by Wu's student Feng Hanhua.

The exhibition aims to showcase the achievements of the high-quality development of traditional culture, and to promote the inheritance and development of Cantonese Opera.
The exhibition's artistic setting combines makeup designs with minimalist décor.
The makeup designs use lines, colors and patterns to show a character's personality and age. Cantonese Opera makeup skills are listed among the 10th batch of intangible cultural heritage items in Tianhe district.
