        Update: 2023-07-26     Source: GDToday

The world-class masterpiece "The Phantom of the Opera" will make its debut in its first-ever Chinese version at the Guangzhou Opera House on July 25. The show will run until August 13.

First performed in 1986, "The Phantom of the Opera" has been staged in nearly 190 cities worldwide, with 18 language versions. The enchanting music, grand stage settings, and outstanding performances have earned the show over 70 awards. After years of preparation, this timeless masterpiece has finally ushered in its Chinese version.

Guangzhou Opera House is well-prepared for this show. The theater has prepared a series of surprises for the audience: adornments with various "phantom" elements, rose giveaways, souvenirs, "Phantom" costume exhibitions, and a meet-and-greet with leading actors. Exciting activities await you!

"Will there be any differences between the Chinese version and other versions worldwide?"

On July 23, as the setting of "Paris Opera House" was officially unveiled in Guangzhou, the creative team and lead actors of the Chinese version of the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" gathered for a meet-and-greet event at the Guangzhou Opera House.

Zhao Chenlin, the producer of the Chinese version of the show, explained that the Chinese version of the show is a complete adaptation of the world tour version, with the original team.

From the mechanical aspects to lighting, sound, wigs, costumes, and special effects makeup, every department is manned by the same team that previously worked on "The Phantom of the Opera" in different versions around the world. The entire show, from rehearsals to costume and wig design, adheres to the procedures inherited from the West End and Broadway.
