On March 31, an exhibition featuring cultural relics from eight national historical and cultural cities in Guangdong Province was unveiled at the King's Tomb exhibition area of the Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou and will last for three months. A total of 226 sets of exhibits from ten museums in eight cities in Guangdong are on display.

A historical and cultural city refers to a city with abundant cultural relics and great historical value or revolutionary commemoration significance. Guangdong has eight such cities: Guangzhou, Chaozhou, Zhaoqing, Foshan, Meizhou, Leizhou, Zhongshan, and Huizhou, each with distinct cultural characteristics.

For instance, people in the Leizhou Peninsula regarded the "stone dog" as their totem due to the dog's loyalty, fearlessness, as well as fertility, and stone dog statues are worshipped as guardian deities and auspicious objects by locals. At the exhibition, visitors can see some stone dog statues from the Leizhou Museum.

Meanwhile, exhibits encompass a Chaozhou gold lacquered wood-carving desk, a lantern made of cuttlefish bone, a Shiwan kiln ceramic green-glazed Buddha statue, porcelain pillows, and more cultural relics. Some scenic spots and intangible cultural heritages of the eight cities are introduced as well, providing a gateway to Guangdong's history and culture.
