Recently, the organizing committee of the Guangzhou International Lights Festival held a press conference to announce that the 2024 Guangzhou International Lights Festival (referred to as the "Lights Festival") will officially take place from November 9 to 18.
This year's Lights Festival is themed "Vibrant Bay Area, New Colorful Guangzhou," featuring one main venue along the new central axis and two satellite venues. The main venue along the new central axis includes Huacheng Square, Haixinsha Asian Games Park, and Canton Tower.
The two satellite venues are the riverfront area and Huangpu District. Specifically, the riverfront satellite venue encompasses 24 building facades along Yanjiang Road, Liede Bridge, Haixin Bridge, and the western area of Pazhou facade, while the Huangpu District satellite venue's central stage is located at the Science Square in Guangzhou Science City.
The Lights Festival has solicited nearly 50 sets of works from domestic and international designers, as well as globally solicited related performance videos, aiming to create a globally shared light and shadow visual feast.
On the evening of November 9, 2024, the lighting ceremony of the 2024 Guangzhou International Lights Festival will be launched at the main venue along the new central axis. During the ceremony, the dynamic lighting installation works located in the South Square of Huacheng Square, in conjunction with Canton Tower, will jointly present a 360-degree circular lighting show for the first time, showcasing the development vitality of the core cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The activities of this Lights Festival draw inspiration from "artificial intelligence" as the overall creative source, exploring the integrated development of lighting technology with AI technology and future science and technology.
Besides static lighting works, this Lights Festival incorporates various forms of immersive works. It not only materializes the "cyber version of the mascot" behind the screen but also sets up a giant immersive light and shadow experience space covering various aspects of future urban life, such as clothing, food, shelter, and transportation. Through AIGC, visual art, light and shadow interaction, and other methods, visitors can experience life under the development of artificial intelligence in advance.
At the Lights Festival venue, over 30 light-hearted performances with a full sense of experience will be introduced. Visitors will not only witness performances such as clown acrobatics and puppet interactions, as well as the "Light Dance Envoy" parade performance that integrates lighting art installations, but also enjoy multiple interactive performance works that bring the ultimate experience of the integration of technology and art through the method of "light and shadow + technology + entertainment performance."

Visitors can make reservations by following the official WeChat public accounts of the "Guangzhou International Lights Festival" (廣州國際燈光節(jié)) and "Guangzhou Haixinsha," (廣州海心沙) or entering the reservation interface of the Suihaoban (穗好辦) App, using valid identification documents such as the second-generation resident ID card, Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents, and passports.
