The 2022 New Year's Day holiday is approaching. To cope with the surge in traffic during the holiday, Guangzhou Metro will extend the operating time of all lines by1.5 hoursand 1 hour on December 31, 2021and January 1, 2022 respectively. It will also extend the operating time of line 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 by one hour on January 3, 2022.

According to Guangzhou Metro, it is predicted that on the last day of 2021, which is also the day before New Year's Day (December 31), the metro will have more than 10 million passengers.

Starting from 2 pm on December 31, the evening peak of the metro network will arrive in advance. It is expected that in some passenger transport hub metro stations, such as Guangzhou South Railway Station, Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, and large transfer metro stations, such as Jiahe Wanggang, Yantang, Yuancun, Chebeinan, and stations adjacent to scenic spots and commercial areas, such as Canton Tower, Tiyu Xilu, and Zhujiang New Town, the traffic control will continue for a long time due to increased passenger flows.

The Guangzhou Metro therefore reminds passengers to plan their travel in advance to avoid peak hours. When taking the metro, please show your Yuekang code or Suikang code and wear a mask throughout the journey. In case of passenger flow control, please pay attention to the station broadcast, follow the staff's guidance, and take the metro in an orderly fashion.
