Guangzhou plans to construct a 20-kilometer waterfront jogging loop, four 100-meter scenic leisure spots, and two 10,000-step healthy walking demonstration neighborhoods, according to a recent announcement released by the city's Development and Reform Commission.

The project aims to significantly enhance the living environment along both sides of the Pearl River's main channel, providing residents with more convenient, comfortable, and healthy leisure spaces. The project spans Yuexiu District, Haizhu District, and Liwan District, with specific construction areas along Binjiang Road and Yanjiang Road, extending westward from the Renmin Bridge to the Guangzhou Bridge.

The plan includes a 20-kilometer circular jogging track around the Pearl River, intended to become the preferred exercise spot for residents. The project will feature differentiated construction on the south and north banks: the south bank will focus on durable track paving, while the north bank will optimize existing tracks and add line markings.

Additionally, four key locations will be transformed, including Haizhu Stream Pedestrian Bridge, Sun Yat-sen University North Gate Plaza, Tianzi Wharf, and Binjiang Middle Road–Fangzhi Road Pocket Park. Through landscape design, facility improvements, and functionality enhancements, four unique leisure spots offering diverse relaxation experiences for residents will be created.

Two areas, including Yanjiang Road–Dashatou Neighborhood and Binjiang Road–Haiyin Park Neighborhood, have been selected for the 10,000-step healthy walking demonstration neighborhood. Road design optimization, signage system additions, and rest facilities improvements will encourage residents to easily achieve the daily goal of 10,000 steps, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
