On April 10, representatives from 30 consulates in Guangzhou visited the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC), gaining firsthand insight into this landmark model of China-Singapore bilateral cooperation.

The event, part of the 2025 "Understanding Guangzhou Through Diplomats’ Eyes" series, marked the 15th anniversary of the CSGKC and coincided with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore.

Participating consulates included those from Singapore and other ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, as well as nations including Turkiye, Denmark, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

Over the past 15 years, the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City has grown into a flagship model of bilateral cooperation. 

With over RMB 530 billion in fixed asset investment, it now hosts thriving industrial clusters in biomedicine, integrated circuits, and new energy vehicles. Notably, leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng is among the high-profile enterprises based in the Knowledge City. 

It has also attracted over 300 foreign-invested enterprises, including DBS Bank, Envision Digital, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Medtronic, Carl Zeiss, and Procter & Gamble. 

Over the years, the CSGKC has transformed itself into a modern town that integrates industry and urban living, featuring balanced work-life infrastructure, convenient transportation, eco-friendly surroundings, and comprehensive amenities.

Among the highlights of the tour was a visit to CVTE, a homegrown unicorn in Huangpu District, known for its innovation prowess—evidenced by three national-level manufacturing champion products. Its flagship product, MAXHUB, has already reached markets in over 18 countries.Knowledge City also features flagship collaborations such as the China-Singapore Smart Park and the National University of Singapore Guangzhou Research Translation & Innovation Institute (NUS GRTII), which has already incubated 11 high-potential startups.

In 2024 alone, Guangzhou welcomed 107 new Singapore-invested companies, marking an annual increase of 16.3%. Bilateral trade between the two was worth RMB 15.5 billion last year. 

As of 2024, over 1,000 Singapore-invested firms are now operating in the city, alongside 95 Guangzhou-invested companies in Singapore.
